The Work
Writing Samples
Ayana actively uses her skills as an accomplished writer and editor, furthering her talents that were first honed during her time in the magazine publishing industry.
She was a contributor for Discover Durham’s African American Heritage Guide (2024) and penned the articles 48 Hours Exploring Durham’s Black-Owned Gems and NCCU: No Common, Ordinary Barnyard Fowl. In 2024, Ayana also wrote a piece, A Guide to Durham’s Art Galleries and Museums for Discover Durham.
During her tenure at North Carolina Central University, Ayana served as co-editor of NCCU Now magazine and wrote the cover stories for several issues. She also led her team in drafting the university’s annual reports.
